Cottrell Park Golf Club - The Button Gwinnett Course
About
The historic parkland of Cottrell Park is set in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan and it is an idyllic setting for a golfing venue. Cottrell is very conveniently located, being only a few miles from Cardiff and it's International Airport. The beautiful parkland covers over 400 acres and offers breathtaking views sweeping northwards as far as the Brecon Beacons and southwards over the Bristol Channel to the Mendips. The golfing facilities include two championship golf courses, the Mackintosh, (6,499 yards off the white tees), and the Button Gwinnett, (6,192 yards off the white tees), as well as an all weather floodlit driving range, putting greens and golf practice areas.
With an American theme, the Button Gwinnett course boasts 13 lakes spread over 18 holes. The course offers a good challenge to all categories of golfer as well as offering the most fantastic views across the Vale. The 16th hole has similarities to the 16th of Augusta National with water from tee to green. The 17th plays up to a Plato green and to finish you play the picturesque 18th over a large water feature in view of the clubhouse.

Very enjoyable late afternoon round. Course was in lovely condition and all staff in pro shop and bar very helpful and friendly.
Button
Cracking little course with some amazing holes and plenty of water to plot your way around.
Excellent Course
Great day on the course played here a few times and never disappoints. Course was in great condition and well maintained.
Only let down was the pace of play, played as a single ball some 4 balls let me play through others didn’t meaning having to wait around 8/10 on the last 4 holes
Nice course in good condition
Played the Button course for the first time. It's a week maintained course with a good mix of par 3, 4 & 5 holes. Well set out in a lovely setting.
A well laid out course with no querky holes.
Greens were in excellent condition and fairways moderate to good. Has a nice clubhouse with views over the course. The other course (MacKintosh) is even better although a little longer - even better than both courses at the Vale.
A good all rpund experience
A nice course. Allowed us out early due to quiet on the course. Tee boxes were quite poor but greens were nice and green. Course remarkly green too considering weather recently.
Would definitely go back. Will likely try the Mackintosh Course next time.
Stunning Evening
We played on a near empty course late on a Bank Holiday afternoon. The course was in great condition, and even the major works on the 4th hole were well explained, and didn't cause us too much bother. Highly recommended
Challenging but not to difficult
First time I had played the button coarse and was not disappointed, even though it was the end of winter the coarse was in good condition, the fairways were a bit long but to be expected at this time of year, the greens were very good and again for the time of year in top condition and running quite quick and true . Very friendly service. I would recommend this coarse .
