18 hole but really just 9
Its a 9 hole turnaround to hole 1 fir the other 9. If your close to it use it. If your coming from an hour away or more fund a closer course. If your only playing 9 its perfect.
Do not play!
I do not like to give 1 star reviews unless it is very much warranted, and I feel like it is in this case. I honestly couldn't care less about the condition of the course, but it's pretty rough but I go out golfing to have fun. Today my brother and I decided to take a friend out for his first time golfing. The three of us made it through our first 9 holes (it's absolutely not an 18 hole course, only 9 holes you play through x2) and yes, it took a good long while. We let several groups play through in front of us because we knew we were taking a long time with a new golfer.
But when the staff hunted us down, accused us of being drunk and lying about how many times we've played through, that's simply a shameful display of abysmal customer service. I do not care if you've "never in your years seen people take that long to play through a course". If you have an issue, stop and ask. Last I checked, you don't have a time limit on the course and we were teaching someone new the play of the game. We did nothing to damage the course, disrupt anyone else's play, and we did all we could to ensure folks behind us played through so we didn't hold them up.
Way to push the stereotype about golfers being stuck up jerks and insult and embarrass someone whose never played before to their face. Great way to introduce a new golfer to the sport.
DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!
First time playing here a couple weeks ago and booked this tee time based on pics and overall website ratings. This course is complete trash! This was advertised as 18 holes and it most definitely is not. I paid in advance for my tee time and arrived about 10 minutes early and was made to wait before walking in to even use the restroom until the staff member wanted to unlock the front door. There are absolutely no fairways here!!! Almost no grass at all and as hard as concrete! I played two holes and decided to quit because I did not want to break a club on what they call a fairway! I asked for a refund on only nine holes because I did play the first two and was told they already processed the payment and couldn’t issue a refund. Staff agreed that the course was in horrible condition but the greens were nice??!! Honestly doesn’t matter what kind of shape the greens are in if you can’t get to them with a full set of clubs because you broke all your irons and woods! I will never be back to this course and strongly advise NO-ONE BOOK HERE EVER!!!!!
Elks Course - Good Experience
Had a good experience playing Hillsboro Elks golf course August 1. Greens in excellent condition (although I didn't putt well), but the fairways were a little bare (probably due to very hot weather recently). But overall, I recommend playing at Elks course; nice layout, scenic and fair pricing. Enjoyable!
Only Play Here if you have Nowhere else to go
Made a 9:30am tee time on GolfNow for 2 (me and my adult son) for 18 holes with cart. My son and I both drove an hour to get to the course. Upon checking in, Proshop staff said we had to have the cart back and off the course by Noon b/c they had an outing scheduled in the afternoon. Why would they advertise/sell 18 hole tee time and only allow 2:30 to play 18?!
Track is only 9 holes that you play 2x for 18. I struggle to find anything good to say about this track... staff was rude to my son when he checked in, tee boxes are weeds, fairway is mostly dirt (they don't water), and greens are thick with obstacles (sprinkler heads?) in the greens surface. We played until the ranger (only positive thing/person about this place) caught up with us on the 14th hole at 12:15 and said we had to stop playing. Ranger was super nice and regretted having to make us stop and even tried to get the proshop to give us a raincheck (which they refused).
I will never return here and don't recommend this place to anyone that's not a beginner golfer. Again, if you have no other options, I guess any track is better than no golf, but stay away if you have the option.
I'd be surprised if this place is in business much longer. Too bad, cause it could be a nice little track in rural country.
Poorly maintained!
I’ve played courses up in northern Ohio for the same price that were better maintained than this course. I booked 18 and stopped after 9 the course was so bad. I will never play there again nor would I recommend to friend.
Ok for the price
I'm not unhappy that I played there or intending to bash them. Unfortunately it's just not in good shape. The greens were fine but nothing else. The gentleman working the shop was nice. I think everyone knows what they have, just a course if you want to play and don't mind placing your ball on grass after finding it.
Bang for your buck
Elks Run was a decent course to play. It's a 9 hole that you have to play twice to get in 18 holes. The course condition was decent considering we haven't had a lot of rain lately which made the fairways and greens run fast. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. $21 for 18 holes with a cart is a steal now days. The course layout is pretty wide open so if you have the occasional chili dipper you should be able to find your ball. The course doesn't have a ton of water hazards either. I'll definitely return in the future to play another round at Elks Run.
It was ok
The staff (Mike)was awesome. Was my first time to the course and the layout to me was strange. It's up on some hills and the wind was crazy. I personally like playing in different conditions so I was fine with that. But if someone wanted a super cheap place to play 9 holes and they were close to it I'd say go give it a try.

Course well mantained
fairways and grees, tee box a little hard to put tee into the ground.
